EFT Emotional Freedom Techniques

What is EFT? Emotional Freedom Techniques

energy system of the human body

It is a mind-body therapy. Born in the United States in 1993, EFT was founded by Gary Craig.

It is derived from Roger J Callahan's Mental Field Therapy. It works on the body to soothe the mind and release emotions. EFT is inspired by acupuncture, medicine, psychology, chiropractic and kinesiology. It focuses on the human energy system (the energy that flows in and around our bodies).

How does EFT work?

It is by stimulating without needles but by tapping and massaging certain acupuncture points located at the ends of the meridians that EFT helps the body to regain an optimal energy flow, ridding it of emotional pain, negative thoughts, undesirable behavior.

EFT as a tool for pain relief

The pain (1)

Whether it is recent or has been evolving for years - is often experienced as an aggression, both in the body and in the mind. Pain is traumatic. Some people are able to cope with it, while others feel helpless - not knowing how to relieve it - and vulnerable. When pain occurs, it is accompanied by a flood of negative emotions such as fear, nervousness, anger, despair, etc. Pain is both physically and emotionally draining. It disempowers those who experience it, takes up space and isolates.

EFT has the serious advantage of helping the patient to better manage his or her pain, and to relieve it autonomously.

Once the follow-up is initiated, your practitioner will teach you how to use EFT.

This method will help you significantly to reduce the intensity of the pain, to free yourself from negative emotions, to regain the necessary resources to mobilize yourself and, in particular, to invest more fully in the therapeutic process.

(1) pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience related to an existing or potential tissue injury and described in terms of that injury (def Gusky, 1979)
